Frown lines, forehead lines and crows feet are caused by continuous use of muscles, which gradually wear away the collagen in the skin, causing it to crease and wrinkles appear. Wrinkle Reducing Injections (botox®/vistabel®) do exactly what they say, they relax your muscles preventing the formation of wrinkles and give your skin a chance to recover and soften out existing lines.
Treatment
A minute quantity of the muscle relaxing agent is injected into the muscle that cause dynamic lines, for example frown lines. The injection temporarily prevents nerve signals from reaching the muscle and as a result the muscle relaxes. As the muscle relaxes the skin smoothes out. Treatment takes between 20 and 45 minutes depending how many areas are to be treated.
Results
Your injections may require fine tuning, as with everything results vary from individual to individual, and so you are therefore asked to come back after 2 weeks so this can be done then if necessary. Generally you will see an improvement within days and it will last up to 4 months.
